High-Rise Loft, Tel Aviv | Between Gallery and Home | Lead architect for this project at Ilan Pivko Architects
The Vision: Crafting a "New York Style" Gallery in the Clouds
Within a Tel Aviv high-rise, serving as the lead architect at Ilan Pivko Architects, I managed the design of a unique residence for an art collector. The primary challenge was reinterpreting the typical glass-tower layout—characterized by a lack of interior walls—and transforming it into a "living gallery" that could house a significant art collection.
Inspiration struck during the first site visit: the quality of the concrete ceiling casting was so exceptional that I decided to leave it exposed. To create a sophisticated, dramatic contrast reminiscent of New York lofts, I paired it with deep black parquet flooring. The transitions between the raw concrete and the crisp white walls required the development of delicate, precise architectural details that highlight the material dialogue.
Seeking unconventional display solutions, I collaborated with artists from the earliest planning stages. The goal was to explore how art could become an organic part of the space rather than just an object hung on a wall. This project marked a milestone in my approach to the connection between living environments and artistic creation, proving that a personal identity can be forged even within a transparent urban shell.
